3 Quick Beauty Fixes

1) Self Tanner Gone Wrong~

Ok girls…so you decided to carry that fabulous bronzed look into Fall by using your favorite Self Tanner, but woke up looking like a tan zebra- lots of stripes and patchy areas.  Don’t fret, no need to hide in the closet a week till it wears off.  Fix a self tanner mishap with LEMONS!

  • Massage skin with a clean washcloth soaked in pure lemon juice.  You can also cut a fresh lemon in half and massage over the streaked areas.  The Citric Acid from the lemon is a natural skin lightener and will help to lighten the uneven areas.  Add a spoonful of sugar as you massage the skin, and the sugar will help exfoliate the area, making the streaks less noticeable.

TIP:  Next time you apply Self Tanner, try our favorite by California North, and mix with equal parts of moisturizer before applying to your knees, elbows and ankles.  The moisturizer will help dilute the tanner for these areas that grab color much quicker!

2) Decided to Wax those Brows Hours Before a Big Event- now You’re Red & Puffy~ 

Never a good idea to wax the same day as a big event, Wedding, Prom, etc BUT, if you did, and now you are left with red puffy brows or upper lip, have no fear.  Fix red puffiness with CORTISONE & VISINE!

  • Keep an over-the-counter 1% Hydrocortisone cream on hand for minor mishaps.  Massage a thin layer into the red, puffy area.  Hydrocortisone will reduce inflammation and reduce any itchiness that might flare up.   Allow it to soak in for at least 30 minutes before disrupting the area with makeup.
  • IF the area is still red, apply a drop of Visine to the skin [an old Hollywood trick].  As the makers say ‘It takes the Red Out’.  It’s a quick fix!  Then apply your makeup as usual.

3) Too Much Champagne Last Night,  Puffy Eyes This Morning!       

An evening of alcohol and appetizers might spell a fun evening, but the next morning can be a nightmare! Increased sodium and alcohol will leave most people with puffy eyes the next morning.  So grab some chamomile tea for a quick fix!

  • Steep 2 Chamomile Tea bags for a minute to release the tea,  then cool them.  Lie down and apply the cool tea bags to your eyes.  Close your eyes and relax for 10 minutes to allow the eye area to soak in the chamomile.  Chamomile has natural anti-inflammatory properties and will significantly reduce puffiness.  Follow with your favorite eye cream to soften and soothe the area.

TIP:  Keep your eye cream in the fridge and apply cold, which will also help with the puffy under eye area.  And drink LOTS of water when indulging in a night of alcohol and salty appetizers.  For every drink you have, follow it with a full glass of water.  This will help cut down the ‘morning after’ puffiness!
