Snake Venom For Wrinkles!

So have you heard the newest Beauty trend?  Snake venom for wrinkles ladies. Yep, you read it right.  A Beverly Hills skincare clinic has been doing snake venom facials to target fine lines and wrinkles.  The idea might seem bizarre, but because of its ‘Botox-like effect,’ the venom is increasingly gaining acceptance. The main ingredient used in this Snake Venom Facial, SYN-AKE is actually not real snake venom, but a synthetic version developed to mimic the paralyzing effect of a temple viper’s venom.

When this snake venom like serum is applied to the skin during the snake venom facial, clients experience a relaxing effect on the skin. The ingredients send messages to the muscle receptors not to contract, thus a relaxed “Botox” effect is achieved. When a snake bites an animal or human being, the venom works to paralyze the skin and eventually the entire body.

Snake venom is the latest celebrity in the anti-aging industry and celebrities and non-celebrities alike are lining up to try this product and get the facial.  If you’re nowhere near Beverly Hills you can try the product in the luxury of your own home- but save your pennies as this is not a cheap one.    You will have to shell out $195 for a small 1 oz. bottle.   Those who have tried it say it leaves a tingling burning sensation on your skin for a few minutes, similar to the cinnamon type plumping products for lips.

Not sure this will ever be on my must-have list.  The thought of getting that close to anything that resembles a snake is a little freaky to me.  If you’ve tried this treatment let me know your thoughts.

Essie Spring 2012 Collection

ESSIE ROLLS OUT THE SPRING COLLECTION-

This spring, Essie debuts a new bold color palette to accentuate the latest runway colors.  Bold, beautiful and definitely not shy.  No need to play it safe here ladies, these colors are fresh and new, and bring with them the hope of sunnier days ahead.

Essie brand founder and global creative director Essie Weingarten says “I am so inspired by women who dream big, go with their instincts and always manage to put their best self forward.”

This complete collection includes something for every woman.  Brights and power pastels to suit every occasion.  There is an Essie color perfect for every girl.

I discovered Essie years ago, long before she was seen in almost every retail beauty store.  I sold her entire line in my beauty boutique.   Back then, she was a private label line, with no name on her bottle, and a very inexpensive price tag.  It didn’t take long for Essie to learn that she had THE BEST nail polish on the market.  Higher brands could not compare, and as her popularity increased so did her price tag, and the realization that she should be proud of her product and put her OWN name on the bottle rather than someone else’s.

Her colors are staples in celebrities bags, and most know them by name.  Mademoiselle has always been my “go to” color.  I keep it in my makeup kit for t0uch-ups on actresses and models nails.  It is the perfect color for a french manicure or for that hint of color to compliment any outfit.  For many years, Essie claimed it was her #1 selling color.  In 1989 the majesty herself, the Queen of England proclaimed that Ballet Slippers was the only color she would wear.

In 2010 Essie became part of the L’Oreal family which is why you can now find Essie polishes in every door across the country.  Although Essie is really L’Oreal now, the best-selling colors and formulas remain the same.  Look for the new collection coming to a Target, CVS, Wal-Mart or local salon near you in February.
