Keep Your Neck Looking Younger

Is your neck giving away your age?  Women focus so much attention on their faces, spending hours lathering on  wrinkle creams and serums, getting laser treatments and peels to target those crows feet, but pay little attention to their necks.  One of the first places that show the signs of aging.

As we age, and gravity starts to take over, our necks start a downward move.  Skin starts to sag, forming what is commonly tagged as the ‘turkey waddle’.  That little pudge of skin right below your chin.  So what’s a girl to do when she has kept her face  from telling her real age, but her neck is ready to reveal all her secrets?  Here are a few quick and easy tips to keep your neck looking fabulous.

  • The skin of your neck is some of the thinnest on your body, so protect it.  Don’t stop your daily SPF at your jawline, continue it right down your neck, especially when heading for a day in the sun.  Lather it up for extra protection.
  • If sun-spots, or commonly referred to ‘age spots’ have already set up shop, let’s get rid of them.  Try a skin fading cream, like  Skin Brightening Gel by Exuviance.   This fabulous gel will exfoliate and smooth age spots and skin discolorations with a gel formulation of Kojic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid and botanical skin brighteners leaving behind a beautiful renewed complexion.
  • Exfoliate!  This area tends to get dry and flaky and since we neglect it, we need to give it a little extra pampering.  Try my quick and easy Sugar Scrub during your next shower.  Take a tsp of Olive Oil and massage it into your neck with an upward motion, then take a 1/4 tsp of sugar and scrub it into the Olive Oil in a circular pattern.  Allow it to set into your skin for a minute or two before rinsing off.  Don’t forget a double dose of night cream before resting your head for the night.
  • Lather your neck up at bedtime with a good anti-wrinkle cream, my favorite Wrinkle Relaxing Creme by Peptoxyl.  A paraben free combination of two peptides that work synergistically, inhibiting muscle contractions while simultaneously increasing collagen and elastin production while you sleep.
  • And when all is said and done, don’t forget to repeat your vowels- YES, that actually does help too!   A-E-I-O-U over exaggerated will work those muscles in your neck, keeping them in tip-top shape, and the best part is that they can be done anywhere.
